• I need to talk.

    So, I read The Hunger Games trilogy. I feel like I need to talk to someone to process what happened. That…was a lot.

    I know that I’ll be going back to re-read them again, I read them so quickly. (I read Catching Fire and Mockingjay both on Saturday). I just…got involved. {It feels like when Ben introduced me to Harry Potter, and I read the first four HP books in four days. But hey, thanks for that.}

    Did anyone like how the HG books ended?  So far, I haven’t found a single person who says yes.

    After reading them the first time – especially the first book – I spent a lot of time processing. It was a while ago so I don’t remember if I came to any satisfying conclusion. Probably not. Though I appreciate when a book can make me continue to think, even after its conclusion.

    As far as if I liked the ending: NO. To be fair, I rarely like endings of good books. In this case, I think my dislike was a combination at being disappointed in the ending and just the fact that the story was, well, finished.

      So, had the same experience, I read all three books in a couple days before seeing the movie. While reading I kept thinking, “This is not a good book, but it will be an awesome movie”, and it was. The books are not well written, the details, characters, and events (especially what goes down in the sewers) are cluttered and poorly executed. That being said, I appreciated that it truly ended, and that she managed to stay clear of a “happy ending”, but can you imagine the on-screen violence needed to tell THAT story?

      As to Catnip and her love-triangle, ending up with Petra makes sense. She has some SERIOUS PTSD, and so does he. With their shared experience they can relate to each other in ways Dale (was that his name?) never could. Team Petra! (which is strange, because I thought he was annoying for most of the series).

      Katniss’s revenge on the president was also well played. She didn’t need to destroy the symbol of the president just the person who held the position, and as the hero of capital, she can absorb the fallout.

      In conclusion: Did EVERYONE have to die??

    My comment aside, what specifically did you dislike? Haven’t read them in awhile.

    yeah i was not a huge fan of the ending, and i was also kind of disappointed at what katniss turned into. i liked her at first and towards the end i kinda wanted to punch her a little. …….maybe more than a little.

    also the third one took me a REALLY long time to get through, for some reason. 1 and 2 i read in like 4 hours each…and 3 took me like 8 hours. i will say, though, i haven’t read them again, and i probably should. but i remember being annoyed through most of the third book.

    I also read them really quickly. I’m not totally sure what happened since there was so much action and my eyeballs were moving so fast! The ending was ok. How else would you have wanted it to end?
