So, the summer happened. It was stressful. I worked a lot, a LOT. Dan moved our stuff back to Berkeley from Vallejo. I randomly went on organizing sprees in the house – which ended up well, but made a bunch of mess in the in-between time. We continued to travel. We went to weddings. We started thinking about planning our own wedding, and I started having anxiety (more on that in the coming days).
Then, school started. I trained RAs for two weeks while still running 6 full buildings of summer students plus a summer staff of 30, then buildings opened, and then welcome weeks happened. Dan picked up multiple consulting contracts. But mostly, he took care of me and our house as a full-time job. Our cats missed me.
Last week, I took him to Palm Springs to thank him for basically keeping me sane and heading the right direction, even when I was sleepwalking. This week is much much better.
So, we’re back to slightly normal life. Working, traveling, attending more weddings. I know I haven’t been in touch, I’m going to try to rectify that this week, and in future weeks.
Summer recap:
I went to the Grand Canyon and Sedona with Dana in June, because she asked nicely. It was ah-mazing. She made me hike a long ways, I whined. There was also elk.
I went to a conference in San Diego in June and Dan came down and we gallivanted around for a couple of days after. We did not go to the zoo, but we did go to Balboa Park (above). Mostly we ate fish tacos, which I now dream about.
This is Dan trying to take a picture of himself and a big wave in La Jolla (la-hoya) but he’s failing. (Dan, this is what you get for making me write all the blog posts.)
We went sea kayaking in La Jolla as well. This is me in the front, getting 10x more wet than Dan in the back, jerk. I was SO nauseous during this whole experience, but I tried to fake it. Dan didn’t buy it. This picture is shortly before we tipped over trying to get back to shore.
Dan and I before July-wedding-in-the-100-degree-heat #1. You may be thinking, Kristin, that’s the same outfit you wore to Brian and Christy’s wedding, right down to the shoes. (Even though you can’t see the shoes, but I know you.) And yes, you’re right. But we go to 3-5 weddings a year. Don’t judge me.
